12AAA East Division: Rivalries Renew as Week 2 Takes Shape
After an opening week that set the table for the season ahead, the 12AAA Eastman Division returns with three intriguing matchups and the Moncton Purple Knights watching from the sidelines on a bye.
The Friday night spotlight shines on Woody Hayes Field where the Harrison Trimble Trojans host the L’Odyssee Olympiens at 7 p.m. Both teams will be looking to establish momentum early in the campaign, making this an important measuring-stick game in the divisional race.
At the same time, McKenna Field will feature a battle between the Riverview Royals and Bernice MacNaughton Highlanders. With divisional points always at a premium, both clubs know a strong start can pay dividends when playoff positioning eventually comes into focus.
Saturday’s lone Eastman contest sees the Mathieu-Martin Matadors visit the Tantramar Regional Titans at DA Jardine Field. The kickoff has been moved to 11 a.m. to allow fans the opportunity to attend the Mount Allison University Homecoming game later in the day. The earlier start adds a unique wrinkle to a matchup that could provide an early-season boost for the winner.
Meanwhile, the Moncton Purple Knights have the week off, giving them a chance to recover, regroup, and scout the rest of the division as Eastman rivals battle for valuable early-season ground.

The 12AAA Southwest Division offers a full slate of Friday night football in Week 2, with all six teams in action and several traditional rivals set to square off.
At L. Washburn Field, the Oromocto Blues welcome the Saint John Greyhounds in a matchup featuring two programs that consistently aim to contend in the province’s top division. Early-season games often reveal a team’s identity, making this one worth watching.
Over at Canada Games Stadium, the St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints host the Leo Hayes Lions. Both programs have built reputations for competing hard every week, and another close battle would come as no surprise when these teams meet under the Friday night lights.
The third Southwest clash sees the Fredericton Black Kats host the Kennebecasis Valley Blue Knights at Scotia Park South. With both teams hoping to keep pace in what is typically a tightly contested division, every possession and mistake could prove crucial.

The province’s nine-man division returns with a busy Saturday schedule featuring four games spread across New Brunswick.
The Rothesay Redhawks travel to Saint John to take on the Simonds Seabees at M&J Upward Field. Both clubs will be eager to establish themselves early in the season and gain momentum heading into the heart of the schedule.
Elsewhere, the Harbour View Vikings visit the Hampton Huskies. Hampton’s home field has often provided a strong atmosphere, and the Huskies will look to make the most of home-field advantage against a Vikings squad hungry for a road victory.
In St. Stephen, the Spartans welcome École Sainte-Anne Castors. The matchup brings together teams from opposite corners of the province and offers another chance for both programs to make an early statement in the standings.
