Wildcats Ready to Hit the Ice as 2026 Training Camp Opens August 19

Hockey season is almost here in Moncton.

The Moncton Wildcats have officially unveiled their 2026 Training Camp and Pre-Season schedule, presented by Moncton Kia, with players set to arrive at the Avenir Centre on Wednesday, August 19. For fans eager to get their first look at the next generation of Wildcats talent, there will be several opportunities to catch the team in action before the regular season begins.

One of the highlights of this year’s camp is the return of the popular Red vs. White intrasquad games, which will be open to the public and free to attend. The games offer fans an early chance to see prospects, returning players, and newcomers compete for roster spots as training camp gets underway.

Free Intrasquad Games for Fans

The first two Red vs. White matchups will take place during Rookie Training Camp on Thursday, August 20.

• 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Red vs. White Game #1
• 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Red vs. White Game #2

The final intrasquad contest will be held during Main Training Camp on Tuesday, August 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Fans planning to attend should enter through the Avenir Centre Box Office entrance. Doors will open 15 minutes before puck drop, and spectators are encouraged to sit in Sections 104 through 108. For those unable to attend in person, all three games will be livestreamed and archived on the Wildcats’ YouTube channel.

Exhibition Schedule Begins August 21

The Wildcats’ pre-season slate opens on home ice against the Newfoundland Regiment on Friday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Avenir Centre.

The club then travels to Prince Edward Island on Saturday, August 22 for a matchup against the Charlottetown Islanders at the Simmons Sports Centre.

Following the start of Main Camp, Moncton will continue its exhibition schedule with a pair of games against its provincial rivals, the Saint John Sea Dogs.

• August 26 – at Saint John Sea Dogs (Garcelon Civic Centre, Saint Stephen)
• August 28 – vs. Saint John Sea Dogs (Aitken Centre, Fredericton)

The Wildcats then close out the pre-season with a home-and-home series against the Cape Breton Eagles.

• September 5 – vs. Cape Breton Eagles (Moncton Coliseum)
• September 12 – at Cape Breton Eagles (Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre)

While the intrasquad games are free, admission fees apply for pre-season contests:

• Seniors (60+): $10
• Students (14-18): $8
• Youth (6-13): $5
• Children Under 5: Free
