Wildcats Add Experienced Sports Executive Kevin Simpson to Lead Business Operations

The Moncton Wildcats are bringing a proven sports executive to the Hub City.

The club announced that Kevin Simpson will become the team’s new General Manager of Business Operations effective August 1, 2026, adding another experienced voice to an organization that continues to build on its recent success both on and off the ice.

For Wildcats fans, Simpson’s arrival comes at an exciting time. The organization is preparing for its 31st season and continues to push forward with its bid to host the 2028 Memorial Cup, one of the biggest events in Canadian junior hockey.

Simpson arrives in Moncton from the Western Hockey League’s Swift Current Broncos, where he has served as Executive Vice President of Business Operations since 2023. Before that, he built a diverse resume across the hockey world, working with several ECHL organizations and overseeing operations with the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL, including helping the club host the Canadian Junior Hockey League Prospects Game.

With more than 15 years of experience in sports and hockey management, Simpson has developed a reputation for strengthening organizations through marketing, financial management, and creating memorable experiences for fans on game day.

“It’s an incredible honour to join the Moncton Wildcats and help lead a first-class organization with a proud tradition of excellence, both on and off the ice,” Simpson said in the team’s announcement.

He also pointed to the momentum surrounding the franchise and the opportunity to potentially play a role in bringing the Memorial Cup to Moncton in 2028.

“Joining the Wildcats at such a significant time, with the organization named as a finalist to host the 2028 Memorial Cup, makes this opportunity even more special,” Simpson said. “I am excited to build on the Wildcats’ success by delivering exceptional experiences for our fans and partners while helping showcase Moncton as the premier destination for the 2028 Memorial Cup.”

Wildcats President R.J. Irving said Simpson’s experience and competitive mindset made him an ideal fit for the organization.

“Kevin has the experience, and desire to win, to help us as we finalize our bid to host the 2028 Memorial Cup,” Irving said. “He understands how to bring value and entertainment to our fans and partners.”

Irving added that the organization is eager to welcome Simpson to the team and the community.

A graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business, Simpson now takes on a key leadership role with one of the QMJHL’s marquee franchises. His focus will be on continuing to enhance the Wildcats’ business operations while helping strengthen the connection between the team, its partners, and its fans.

As the Wildcats continue to chase championships and pursue the opportunity to host the Memorial Cup, the addition of Simpson represents another significant piece of the organization’s long-term vision.
