Yann-Félix Lapointe of the Aigles Bleus is looking to launch an attack on Tuesday evening.
The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (8-5-2-0=18pts, 3rd position) are still powerless against the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (6-9-0-0=12pts, 5th position) with a 7-0 loss on Tuesday night in an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey game in Charlottetown.
Despite their lower ranking, the Panthers have the number of the Aigles Bleus, having won all three meetings this season between these two clubs.
Michael Stubbs in the first period and Keiran Gallant, Elias Cohen and Noah Sedore in the second led the Panthers’ offence for the first forty minutes. Cole Larkin and Daylon Groulx, with two power-play goals, rounded out the scoring in the third period. Olivier Adam had 34 shots for the Aigles Bleus and Joe Ranger, 28 for the Panthers. The latter made some key saves during the game to frustrate the visitors. The Panthers were 3-for-8 on the power play and Moncton was 0-for-3.
“We weren’t in the game from the beginning,” said Moncton coach Derek Cormier. “It’s unfortunate that we let another game pass us by. All our games are important, and we need show up every night. Both goalies played well, we often left ours alone. We’ll have to forget about this on Wednesday morning and get ready for Saturday night.”
The Aigles Bleus will host the number one ranked team in the country, the University of New Brunswick Reds on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. The public can purchase their tickets at the arena box office starting at 6 p.m. or during the day at the CEPS reception desk.
