Greyhounds Roar, Royals Roll, and Titans-Matadors Battle to a Draw in Week 2

Week 2 of New Brunswick high school football delivered a little bit of everything: offensive explosions, defensive domination, a rare tie, and several early-season statement victories as teams continue to establish themselves in their respective divisions.

12AAA East

Trojans Make a Statement

The Harrison Trimble Trojans put together one of the most impressive performances of the week, rolling past L’Odyssee Olympiens 46-8 at Woody Hayes Field. Harrison Trimble’s offence found its rhythm early and never looked back as the Trojans improved their position in the East Division race.

Royals Stay Perfect

The Riverview Royals continued their strong start with a convincing 49-6 road win over the Bernice MacNaughton Highlanders. Riverview controlled the contest from start to finish, posting the highest point total in the East Division this week and reinforcing their status as an early contender.

Matadors and Titans Can’t Be Separated

In the week’s closest matchup, the Mathieu-Martin Matadors and Tantramar Regional Titans battled to a 13-13 draw at DA Jardine. Neither team could find the decisive score, resulting in one of the season’s first stalemates and leaving both clubs with valuable points in the standings.

Bye Week

The Moncton Purple Knights were idle and will return to action in Week 3.

12AAA Southwest

Greyhounds Deliver Week’s Most Dominant Performance

The Saint John Greyhounds produced the biggest result of Week 2, overwhelming the Oromocto Blues 71-0. The Greyhounds were relentless on both sides of the ball, recording the only shutout of the AAA divisions while posting the highest score of the week.

Saints Knock Off Lions

The St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints picked up an important 21-13 victory over the Leo Hayes Lions at Canada Games Stadium. In a competitive matchup, the Saints made enough plays down the stretch to secure the win and stay among the division’s early front-runners.

Blue Knights Win Shootout

Fans in Fredericton were treated to an offensive battle as the Kennebecasis Valley Blue Knights edged the Fredericton Black Kats 36-29. KV emerged victorious in the highest-scoring competitive game of the week, showcasing an offence capable of putting up points against quality opposition.

9-Man Division

Redhawks Hold Off Seabees

The Rothesay Redhawks earned a hard-fought 22-17 victory over the Simonds Seabees. Five points separated the teams at the final whistle in one of Week 2’s most competitive contests.

Tommies Pitch Nearly Perfect Game

The James M. Hill Tommies dominated from the opening kick, blanking École Louis-J.-Robichaud Patriotes 47-0. The Tommies combined a productive offence with a stingy defence in one of the division’s most complete performances.

Vikings Cruise on the Road

The Harbour View Vikings rolled to a 39-2 victory over the Hampton Huskies, turning a scheduled road trip into a convincing win. Harbour View’s defence allowed just a safety while the offence consistently found the end zone.

Spartans Finish Strong

After a late scheduling change moved the game to Sunday, the St. Stephen Spartans closed out the weekend with a decisive 49-7 victory over the École Sainte-Anne Castors (Beavers). The Spartans’ balanced effort highlighted a strong Week 2 showing for the southwestern programs.
