The University of New Brunswick Reds (5-3=10pts, 3rd position) defeated the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (3-5=67pts, 5th position) 3-1 on Saturday in an Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball game at the
CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud gymnasium on the Moncton campus in front of more than 330 spectators.
The Reds won 25-16, 14-25, 26-24 and 25-16 in the game that gave explosive play and with the acrobatics necessary to save the day and win the point. Sara Chiasson had 10 kills on offense for the Aigles Bleues and Kyana Sivret had 9. Emily Robichaud led the way defensively with 28 digs and Anne Paquette, with 18. Heather Benko guided the Reds offensively with 12 kills and Talia Nixon and Lydia Green had 11 each. Jenna Adams registered 28 digs on defense and Benko, 20.
The loss ended a 2-game winning streak for the Aigles Bleues, and the Reds won after a loss.
It was the last game of the first semester for the Aigles Bleues and the Reds.
