Basketball Season in New Brunswick is Officially Underway!

Teams were allowed to form after Thanksgiving and the season launched officially on Nov 1st. This is to allow teams the opportunity to focus on skill development before the season begins.

Basketball New Brunswick Director of Operations, Ryan Chase says ” The hope in October is to create a window of time without games where teams can focus on fundamentals, team building, getting acclimated to new teammates and coaches, and individual skill development. ”

Chase says this year looks another strong year for participation in the sport “Between the U11, U13, and U14 age levels that will begin competition this week we have over 160 teams registered”

Tonight 506 Elite 2 Coached by Ryan Lacey will take on The Moncton Basketball Association Hawks at Edith Cavell School. Tip off is 7:45 PM

Sunday Lacey’s squad is back in action as they take on the Port City Kings at 10:30 AM and Bathurst Blazers at 1:30 PM. These game will be played at Lou McNarin School in Dieppe.

506 Shamrocks coached by Brock Gallant will play three games this weekend. Saturday the Shamrocks take on the Riverview Minor Basketball Team coached by Adam Smith. Next they’ll face YFC Elite from Fredericton. Sunday the Shamrocks will take on the Moncton Basketball Association Hawks coached by Jon Hubert.

Tournaments:

506 Elite 1 coached by Nate Horsman will be hosting the 506 Elite Kick Off tournament this weekend.  In attendance will be Fredericton Fusion, the North Preston Bulls, Community “Y” Panthers from Halifax and 506 Elite 1 from Moncton. Games will be played at École Le Mascaret and École Claudette-Bradshaw.

506 Elite Girls coached by Coach Saade will  host the girls kick off tournament.  In attendance will be the Lancaster Lynx, Fredericton Eagles, Woodstock Thunder, North Preston Bulls and the Saint John Surge. Games will be played at École Le Mascaret and École Claudette-Bradshaw.
