FREDERICTON (GNB) – Online and paper applications for the one-time N.B. Workers Benefit of $300 are now being accepted, until June 30.
The program is intended to benefit working New Brunswickers and families, many of whom would not have benefited from previous supports.
Applicants must submit a copy of their Canada Revenue Agency proof of income statement and that of their spouse or common-law partner, if applicable, for 2022 or 2023. All documents must be for the same taxation year. The proof of income statement will be used to verify the applicant’s income.
To qualify, applicants must:
be a New Brunswick resident at the time of their application
have been aged 19 or older as of Dec. 31, 2023
for 2022 or 2023:
filed a New Brunswick tax return
had family net income of $70,000 or less for that taxation year
had family working income of $3,000 or more for that taxation year
Further details about the program, including what qualifies as working income and answers to other frequently asked questions, are available online.
Applicants are encouraged to apply online. By submitting income and other details through the online platform, applicants will be notified in real time whether they are eligible. Paper applications are also accepted at Service New Brunswick service centres and through the mail.
Successful applicants should receive their benefit in the mail six to eight weeks after submitting their application, however, those who submit right away should receive their benefit sooner, as capacity allows.
Anyone not eligible for this benefit may qualify for other support, such as:
social assistance
financial benefits for families with children
help for parents
help with rent and housing
disability support
support for seniors
