Southeastern New Brunswick is currently experiencing a severe drought conditions according to information from agriculture Canada.
Southeastern New Brunswick, much of P.E.I. and central portions of Nova Scotia were reported as the driest areas across the Atlantic Region in the past three months, having only received between 40 and 60% of normal precipitation.
Although an early month storm brought some moisture to the region, impacts from the significant dryness started to show up in the form of grass fires, significant snow melt and low streamflows.
There are currently 5 forest fires in New Brunswick that are burning out of control, 4 that are “being patrolled,” one is contained and another is under control.
There is a province wide burn-ban in effect.
