Caledonia Region RCMP say that a 43 year old Lakeville man was killed and two other people were injured in a single vehicle crash on the weekend. The accident happened on the Fredericton Road in Salisbury around 5am Saturday. Police think the crash happened when the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the road and crashed into the woods. The man who died was a passenger in the vehicle, the driver and another passenger were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The New Brunswick Teachers’ Association released a statement on Friday saying that it “strongly opposes” the government’s “political” decision to accelerate French immersion changes to next fall, and say that they have dropped out of consultations on the matter, saying that trust has been broken. The NBTA says that “It is imperative that decisions be made in the best interests of all students, that they address pre-existing classroom composition challenges, and acknowledge the strain that current teacher shortages are placing on the system.

Moncton traffic: Lane reductions on Mountain Road again Tuesday & Wednesday (Oct 25 & 26), between Walker Street and Watson Avenue, weather permitting. The Moncton Wildcats beat Saint John 7-4 on Saturday night in the Port City. The Cats have four wins and a shootout loss since October 15th. Moncton is back at home at the Avenir Centre this weekend for games on Friday night against Gatineau (7pm) and they host Saint John on Sunday afternoon (4pm).
