Matt Mays
Matt Mays (born August 10, 1979) is a Canadian indie rock singer-songwriter and was the lead singer of Matt Mays & El Torpedo, a rock music group based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and New York City. Previously, Mays was a member of a Canadian indie band The Guthries. Mays was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and grew up in Nova Scotia. At the 2005 Juno Awards, Mays presented an award, and was himself nominated for New Artist of the Year and Adult Alternative Album of the Year for his self-titled album. In 2014, his album Coyote won the Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year.
The Trews
The Trews are a Canadian hard rock band from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, consisting of vocalist Colin MacDonald, guitarist John-Angus MacDonald, bassist Jack Syperek, and drummer Chris Gormley. The band is currently based in Hamilton, Ontario. The band started their career with the name One I’d Trouser, a line taken from a song in Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. They changed their name to Trouser and eventually The Trews. They released an EP as One I’d Trouser, and a second EP under the name The Trews. In the early summer of 2002 the band entered Rocksearch, a high-profile contest that is held annually by CHTZ-FM, a St. Catharines (Southern Ontario) rock radio station. Winning the contest would prove to be their big break as they soon landed a recording contract with Bumstead Productions.
Alert The Medic
Alert The Medic is an independent Canadian rock band formed in 2006 from Halifax, Nova Scotia. The group consists of vocalist and guitarist Ryan MacDonald, bassist Matt Campbell, guitarist Troy Arseneault and drummer Dale Wilson. Their fourth album Let Them Have Their Fun was released through Cadence Music Group and Fontana North on September 8, 2017 .[1] Tracks from The Phantom Moves also appeared on the 2014 NHL Awards,[9] CFL.ca, NHL.com and Roger’s Sportsnet during the entire 2014 postseason and World Series coverage. The album led to the band signing a distribution deal with Fontana North and received two Music Nova Scotia award nominations for “Group Recording of the Year” and “Rock Recording of the Year”.
